Israel is a country in Western Asia placed on the eastern border of the Mediterranean Sea. It borders Lebanon in the north, Syria in the northeast, Jordan in the east, and Egypt on the southwest, and holds geographically varied characteristics within its relatively small area. The major religions followed are Judaism, Islam, Christian, and Druze with 77% Judaism, 16% of the population following Islam, 2% of the population following Christian, 2% of the population following Druze as per 2003 estimate. The Agricultural produce includes citrus, vegetables, cotton; beef, poultry, dairy products. The main industries includes high-technology projects (including aviation, communications, computer-aided design and manufactures, medical electronics, fiber optics), wood and paper products, potash and phosphates, food, beverages, and tobacco, caustic soda, cement, construction, metals products, chemical products, plastics, diamond cutting, textiles, footwear. The natural resources of the country are timber, potash, copper ore, natural gas, phosphate rock, magnesium bromide, clays, and sand.
